Croudace
« on: Wednesday 29 December 10 08:37 GMT (UK) »
I am researching Pascoe and Croudace. William Pascoe married Elizabeth Croudace in  Lydney, Glos. on 8th Sep 1824, and she came from Painshaw (Penshaw) in Durham. Her parents were John and Elizabeth Croudace - can anyone help me with any more details on the Croudace family?

I have the details of b. 1799 Elizabeth Croudace's marriage; children, death, cause etc - and the Pascoe family details - but I am looking for details of Elizabeths forefathers. I understand that her parents were John and Elizabeth and that Elizabeth died in childbirth in 1817 ( as did my Elizabeth on 30th Dec 1828). But did John remarry? I have found a marriage to Louisa Helen Tudor in Aug 1848 in Monmouth, witness Mary Croudace. Louisa was 48 year old spinster and he a 72 year old widower. The details make sense....... The marriage details said he was a "gentleman from Bilston - nowhere near Monmouth -  and his father was James, also "gentleman".It would be good to resolve. Also I am hoping to find more details of Elizabeths lineage. Thanks for your help.
Peter

in the 1824 register William is described as of Lanhithel (probably Llanhilleth), Monmouthshire.
and one of the witnesses is also a Mary CROUDACE:

Marriage 8 Sep 1824 Lydney GLS by licence.
William PASCOE bachelor of Lanhithel Monmouthshire and Elizabeth CROWDACE spinster o.t.p
Both signed. The transcriber noted that Elizabeth signed as CROUDACE.
Witnesses James & Mary CROUDACE.

I was hoping to find William and Louisa in the 1851 census, for some indication of his birthpace,
and also civil registration for the 1848 marriage, but so far have drawn a blank.

By Louisa do you mean Elizabeth? (She died in childbirth in 1828 giving birth to my gt.gt.g'father)
Wm Pascoe was born at Hanham Abbots Bristol in 1798. Are you researching the Pascoe's or Croudac e? I have lots of info on Wm Pascoe and his family if you are interested. What 1848 marr are you referring to?

Hi Peter,

I'm not researching either family, just trying to help.

The 1848 marriage, and Louisa I was referring to is as you mentioned in your reply #2,
in which you were wondering whether William remarried.  I hoped 1851  might help determine
whether it was the same William, but as I said can't find them, or even their wedding.

Have I misunderstood?
