hi anthony

i do have the marriage certificate for michael and mary ann which states that michael was a glazier and they lived at tasmania st his father had died by the time they were married in 1906 and he is down as an ex policeman.

mary ann was a millworker lived at mary st,  father was edward a labourer and still alive.

my interest in these people is that mary ann was my grandmother and that my mother was born 1905 and raised by her grandparents and i have no info on mary ann at all,

i do have two other address for the family, one that mary ann was living at lady st, this was at the time of my mothers birth, and carrickhill place for the main family from what i can tell they were there till the 1940's.

thanks for your reply

hi stevenson

no sorry i don't, the only info i have been able to find on the gormley's is from the 1901 census for the address in tasmania st

it states

mary ann gormley   housewife         age 50   head of family
patrick                     vandriver          age 23    son
michael                    glazier              age 17   son
sarah                       cloth presser    age 20 daugther
mary                        school               age 15 daugther

michael and mary ann o'boyle were married at st peters belfast in 1906

it is possable that there was another sister called catherin who would have been about 27yrs old in 1901 and possable married.

any help

Hi. Looking at the info you posted I think that the Patrick i sent you could be the one.

Grosvenor Place is 50 yards from Lady St and  Mary St is about 500 yards away from Grosvenor Place.
St Peter's Church is about 800 yards away as well, what do you think about that.

I have a James Gormley, Barman 20 Tasmania St 1896.

1949 Directory 9 Carrick Hill Place Jane O'Boyle my Mother was born in Carrick Hill Place 1917 to 1933.

Hope these are off some help to you.

hi anthony

i guess it is poss that he might be, but i don't know when he died yet.

as for the james gormley, the address is right it was no. 20 they lived in but there is no james on the census for 1901,  he could have married by then and moved so there is a good chance that he is another brother.

as for  carrickhill place my mother lived there with her grandparents and their family, the jane o'boyle you listed was my mothers aunt, it is poss that your mother might have known the family, my mother would have been 11yr old when your mother was born, but by 1933 she was living in sydney st west  by my fathers family.

the rest of the o'boyle clan that lived at 9 crrickhill place were

mary ann (my gran)
john died in 1965
lucinda married frances coogan
clara ( i think died as a child)
agnes teresa married melville matthews
catherin married daniel mcneill ( i think he lived at no.9 until about 1952)
jane ( you listed never married )
edward married mary agnes conns
