If you are ever able to take a trip to Liverpool then go to the Maritime Museum at the Albert Dock.   They have an archives/reference library, but check opening hours before you go.  They would probably have the MD&HB  records for the telegrah sites.

They  may be able to answer you by phone or E-mail. Google Maritime Museum  Liverpool.

Liverpool Mercury etc (Liverpool, England), Friday, April 11, 1828

There is an article in this issue that mentions ` most useful and recently established communication between this port and Holyhead by telegraph `

This suggests a station was in use much earlier than 1841

Liverpool Mercury etc (Liverpool, England), Friday, April 9, 1830
There is a letter in this issue which is much to long to copy, from a R J Morrison Leuit R N in which he states he is the inventor of the commercial telegraph, he also seems to be ` having a go` at a Mr Watson over a matter relating to use of the telegraph.
To be honest , it`s very difficult to understand the whole story, but they certainly didn`t have a good opinion of each other  :o

The Morning Post (London, England), Thursday, January 01, 1835
Liverpool , The day throughout has been much too thick and foggy to permit any communication passsing through to Holyhead from this station.

Hi Wil,
Thats fantastic!
You have achieved in a short time what I have failed to reveal in many attempts on the net, emails, phone calls etc.

In fact, you have covered the entire telegraphy history of both the (our) ("Point Lynas Telegraph") Old Telegraph on the mountain & that of the lighthouse telegraph below (post 1860 ish). Your re-employment of the keeper > miner fits the dates well.

That is very interesting re the early dates. We have come to suspect that there was a wooden 'hut' on the site for early tests / use. It has even been suggested by an archaeologist that there was a Roman signal station there or close by.

With regards Watson, his was the earliest telegraph system - using poles with arms - each pattern being given a code letter -- later to become the International Code of Signals for shipping (basically still in use). Watson is reputed to have made good £ on his invention!

After the station was redundant, the structures were removed & a sloping roof placed over the flat roof.

Please can you send me any links to the newspapers?

Cheers, Andy.
