[quote  My point being if the Atkinsons can be found on an electoral roll or other directory, then perhaps a street or lot number will be discovered.

Yes Mr Wilson I had that thought too, but I don't have access to 1940 ER.  the QFHS Inc. has indexed the 1949 ER for Qld. but I can't get to look at that for a few weeks.  Hopefully my other contact will come good ere then.

Ah well
My Wilson line (Mum's maiden name) is from Leicester, but that's all I know.
Can't even find out when my Robert Wilson arrived in Australia, or when/where he died.

My families Brisbane ER addresses around that era mostly only give the street name, occassionally a house name, and a few as vague as "near the railway station"  :-\ ... and only one gives a street number ...

I just had a thought - I wonder if the Qld State Archives holds any records which may help you trace this house?

Hi again Ozjobri et al
I just g***gled "Omrah Coorparoo" and got on to a site in FamilyTreeMaker.genealogy.com called 'Descendants of John Daly' - it says: his daughter Margaret married Thomas Martin O'Dea 1917 in Coorparoo (St.James RC).  "Tom travelled the world 7 times as a merchant seaman. At the beginning of 1916, he brought out his mother, 2 sisters and brother, and his fiancee from Ireland. He bought a house for his mother at 120 Old Cleveland Road, Stones Corner."
It doesn't say this was "Omrah".  Stones Corner is the next suburb to Coorparoo, towards town.
Don't know if that's any help!
