Do you have any idea of the number?  OCR is a very long road.
If you had a number I could look next time I'm passing by

Well, we'll have to wait for an answer from my contact.
Hopefully she'll know - she's into the area's local history.
Of course she may be away for Christmas.
I'll let you know, when she replies.
I put "Omrah Coorparoo" into a search engine and got our conversation!!

Hi,
A couple of tid bits .. some pics of Coorparoo in the following link, > Cooparoo
page 2 has a pic of Dawn Gibson and Gill children (looks early twenties though).
Most houses seem to have a 'name'.

From a much later date..

The Courier-Mail, Saturday 6 January 1940.

Find Mr and Mrs H W Atkinson @ 1940 and you should find 'Omrah'

Interesting, the bit via TROVE, but these days people use numbers instead of names.
Must have been a fair sized house to have the wedding reception there, but there are a few big houses on OCR (Old Cleveland Road) even now -   its house numbers go nearly to 2000, it's at least 10k long though of course not all Coorparoo, but that part would be a few km at least.
My friend hasn't answered yet - must have gone away for Christmas. I'll be surprised if she doesn't know - Coorparoo house history is one of her hobbies.

My point being if the Atkinsons can be found on an electoral roll or other directory, then perhaps a street or lot number will be discovered.

The name of the house may be a clue.  Perhaps those who named the house migrated on the ship by that name.
"Omrah" is the name of a passenger ship (the Orient Line) that sailed between UK and OZ from 1899 then became a troop carrier for WW1.  Google the name.  Here is one site there are others.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SS_Omrah

Perhaps there a passenger list for this ship that may be helpful.

Best wishes, Gazania
