In the 1911 census it shows Walter & Clara Maria Lainchbury living in Northampton. Anyone researching the Lainchbury's from Northampton any news would would be of great interest.

David.

hi David,

I tried to help with the Lainchburys in Coventry in another of your posts,
but misunderstood your needs.

What do you already know about these folks, and what are you seeking
to find out?

A long story will try to keep it brief. In May 2006 there was a sampler in a shop in Chipping Norton by Edith Ellen Lainchbury aged 12 years. I purchased it and it started me on my family tree (now completed from 1570 with much help from others). It proved Edith, bapt. 1869 was the grand-daughter of John & Mary Lainchbury of Cornwell and John was my great-great-grandfather!!
Ediths parents were Eli & Caroline (Scarsbrook) and she had 2 brothers, Walter & Frank, bapt.1871 & 1874. Edith lived all her life at 5 New Street C/Norton and died a spinster there in 1940.
My interest now is to follow the lives of the 2 brothers and to investigate if they had dependants and where their grand-children or great-grand-children may be now living. I have full details of Walter & Frank upto the 1911 census but neither of them on the census listed a family.
David.

There was a death at the right age which may be Frank's, Jun 1944,
but the image is so bad it does not reveal the district:

Somehow i may have mislead you--i'm coming upto 82 and apologize.
In the 1911 census:
Frank & Emily Rose Lainchbury live at 4, Sir Thos. White Road, Coventry, ref: St.John District EN District 22. Frank was an Assistant Store Keeper at a local Motor Works.

Walter & Clara Lainchbury lived at 5, Beaconsfield Terrace, Northampton.
St. Giles District, En District 10. Walter was a Manager at Printer & Bookbinder Works.

The Frank burial you kindly found in Northampton I believe was from Lainchbury families in Northampton and surrondind area which I know about and have no connection with Walter & Clara regretfully.
With your obvious expertise are youable for me to find their burials?
David.

Regarding the 1944 death, you can read the district number which is 6d.
That ref number covered areas such as Birmingham,Rugby,Nuneaton,Coventry,Solihull and Warwick.

So it could just cover someone who died in Northamptonshire....just  ;)

Carol

Hi Kingham,

I have done some searching, and the results are so negative,
it would be well if somebody checked me.

I have searched from 1911 to 1983 at FreeBMD for deaths of
Walter, Frank, Emily and Clara. there were no results for any
of them, except for the death registration for a Frank which i
reported in reply #3 above.

It occurred to me that Walter and Frank may have died in WW1
and their widows remarried, so that there would be no civil
death registration in the Lainchbury name for any of them.
The Commonwealth War Graves Commission list four Lainchbury
deaths in action, but none of them relevant.

I note that at the 1911 census Walter and Clara claimed 9
years marriage with no children born alive. At this date Clara
was 40 years old, and it seems likely there were not to be any
children.

I found their marriage:

Walter Lainchbury & Clara Maria Gregg Sep 1901 Reading 2c 830

and searched from 1911 on for Lainchbury births with a mother's
maiden name of Gregg and nothing was found. Note there is a small
gap in my search, because mother's maiden name was not entered
in the birth indexes until the September Quarter of 1911.

Although I can't find Walter's death, it is possible that he died
before 1946 because of the marriage:

Clara M Lainchbury & John Birch Mar 1946 Wednesbury 6b 1601.

At the 1911 census, regarding children, Frank and Emily Rose,
(also claiming 9 years of marriage), did not complete the question,
unlike Walter and Clara who wrote 'None'

I found the marriage:

Frank Lainchbury and Emily Rose Daffy Dec 1901 Evesham 6c 565

and searched for Lainchbury/Daffy births from that point on, and
none were reported.

I looked for a later marriage of Emily Rose Lainchbury, and it was
not found.

I have not yet looked into emigration or UK citizens deaths abroad.

I have just rec'd a copy of a burial certificte for Frank Lainchbury. I am sure this is the Frank I have searching for. He passed away at 4, Sir Thomas Whites Road, U.D Coventry on 29th.April 1944 aged 70 and Widow E.R. Lainchbury was present at his death.
This finalizes Frank's passing away now to search further for Walter's burial in the Northampton area.

Hello David,

I have been searching for Walter's death again, and can only
find one which seems to fit. The place is not as expected, but
the age is spot on:

Sep 1955 Weston 7c 251, LAINCHBURY, Walter, age 84.
