Deansgrange is a large cemetery, so you would probably need a plot reference to find any inscription. They do not have any records online at the moment, but some inscriptions and transcripts are available on various websites. See  the topic DUBLIN GRAVEYARDS in the Dublin resources section.

note :topic separated off from the topic on James Plunkett

The Public Library in Pearse Street have Deansgrange records on microfilm for free lookup (you need ID to join library but otherwise free) but it is by date of burial only.
The Deansgrange office staff are also very helpful in requests but again you will need a date of death or burial.
Multiple burials in the one plot are cross referenced so you may be lucky if you find one that you'll find others together in a family plot.
I was very lucky here and found family members (young children) that were previously unknown of.

There are good possible matches for the deaths of Thomas and Walter on the famlysearch beta website. The online index only covers up to 1958.. so the other names are too recent to be included.

 Name: Thomas Noel Hutton
 Registration District: Rathdown
 Event Type: Death
Quarter and Year: Apr - Jun 1937
Age: 72 (est. year of birth year 1865)
 volume: 2 / page: 515

 Name: Walter Hutton
 Registration District: Dublin North
 Event Type: death
Quarter and Year: Oct - Dec 1901
Age: 36  (est year of birth 1865)
 volume: 2 / page: 358

death certs would give exact date of deaths, which should help any start a search in Deansgrange or the Library records that myluck! mentioned.

If you do get the grave locations, PM me and I'll go visit them for you. I live close by and its a very pleasant place to stroll around.
I agree with the comment that the staff there are very helpful, but I should mention that I had a chat with one of them recently, and they mentioned that at some point in the future, a charge will be introduced for queries.  The figure she mentioned was 50 euro per grave!

If it is possible anyone I would really love a photo of a grave from Deans Grange Cemetery in Dublin. It is Grave Reference No. 222 in the name of Shortt.

I would be ever so thankful!

Kind regards

Hi Sue,
I'd be happy to oblige with a photo.  However, I need more details on the address of the grave.  The plots in Deansgrange are identified by a grid system involving both a number and a letter/letters.  Also, the plots are divided amongst a number of sections.  So for example, I would expect to see an address for the grave which would look something like p 222 North Section, which might also be abbreviated to p 222 N.
