Ok - so she is his sister in law

So - she could be married to his brother - looks like you might have ruled that one out if you have foolowed all his brothers
or
She could be a sister of his wife - therefore you need to find if Anna/Hannah's maiden name was Oram
or
he could be using the term more loosely, maybe she is widow of his sisiters husbands sister (just an example) or something else more distant and he has used sister in law for ease
or
she is a step sister (inlaw sometimes used in place of step)

thanks for your reply Liz

i do not know who George married however if she was married to his brother would she not have the surname Richards ?

i do not have any siblings for Mary Ann Oram i had hoped she was Hannah / Anna Oram and she married Mr Moulding but i cannot see a marriage that matches for that to be the case - this would be the most sensible answer

Maria was Williams only sister and she is with Thomas Leverton until he dies  so not a wife of him

AND

why would she be listed as Mother in law to David she should be aunty if she is davids fathers sister / sister in law

can you see why i am confused !!

i am pretty certain that Mary Ann Orams father was Jesse from the marriage details at St Margarets however in my online notes i do not have her fathers name written down

the 1822 christening at Enderby for Mary Anne Oram with mother Martha shows no fathers name given indicating perhaps she was illegitimate

in 1828 (17 Jan) at Enderby Martha Oram married Matthias Spencer
i have found the 1841 census for this Martha & Matthias
Enderby Village
Matthias Spencer 45 grocer
Martha  45
Mary  15
Ann 10
Eliza  5
all BIC
 HO107;  600;  18; :  ;  1;

however if that is Mary b. 1822 she should be with William Richards and married by now
i note there is a child Ann this could be Anna / Hannah but her age is out 10 years

so maybe the Mary bp. in 1822 is not mine and she is not the daughter of Martha but still is the daughetr of Jesse which doesnt help as i still dont have any siblings for her  :-\

Matthias Spencer 56
Martha Spencer 56
Mary Ann Oram Spencer 23
Ann Oram Spencer 20
Eliza Oram Spencer 18
Ann Spencer 23
Thomas Storer 18

red notice

thanks Trish married 1834 would be why i couldnt find a marriage as i was looking 1837 onwards

as i can now see that the Marys christening i had was wrong that is my next challenege  :)
