Hi Norrie

Thanks for looking anyway - it's much appreciated.

I've got BMDs and Census Returns for all of them but I've never been able to find a headstone.  My Perthshire relatives are the same!

All the best.

Hello Norrie,

I've just found out that my 3xgt grandmother Agnes Troup was buried in Abbotshall in 1853.  She was first married to William Simpson then, when he died, to William Young.  Do you have any of them in your database please?

The GROS entry reads:
Agnes (Troop) Simpson/Young
"William Young's widow Agness Simpson was buried in the --- (indecipherable) grave of his property 5 1/2 feet deep aged 83 years"

Regards,

Jack

Hi, Norrie,

(We are discussing some Pryde's on the Largo thread but this is a different matter entirely.)

Have you a record in Kirkcaldy (or possibly Wemyss) of the following:

Robert Pryde (wife was Barbara Adams Bennett)
b. 8 Jul 1880 (son of Isabella Pryde and grandson of Robert Pryde/Mary Doig (buried Largo)
d. 30 November 1926

His home was in Kirkcaldy and he died in a mining accident in Wemyss.

Best regards, Mary

Norrie, you are my hero!  Thanks.  At least we have found one of poor Isabella's sons (my great-uncle).  Never would have thought of Dysart, but then I'm not that familiar with Scotland.

If you've got the time, I'm looking for gravestones for the following people. I've been through all the usual lists and found nothing and the facts would suggest they were too poor to afford a stone.  But you might have turned up something I haven't!
They are all born and married in Dysart.

George Kinnaird and Agnes Raeburn (born 1760s)
John Kinnaird and Elizabeth McGregor (born 1790s)
William Page and Elizabeth Mitchell (born c1805)
James McDougall and Ann Rennie (born c1805)
George Kinnaird and Jane Weir (born 1830s)
Duncan McDougall and Euphemia Page (born 1830s)
William Kinnaird and Joan McDougall (born 1860s)
James Brown and Euphemia Kinnaird (born 1890s)

Hi Sarah  sorry  no headstones in my index, even checked old Barony Cemetery
in Dysart
Didn't even find much of the of these families on IGI
only George Kinniard & Jane Weir

Married Jane Weir 13.12.1852 George b abt 1835 died 26.6.1915

Hello again Norrie

I've been doing a bit more digging on locations in Kirckcaldy for the relatives in my list.  Although they start in Dysart Parish, the census returns show a lot  them living in High St in 1851, St Clair St in 1881, 1891 and 1901 and also Long Row in 1841, 1861 and 1871.

So they are really living in the areas of Pathhead and Sinclairtown.  Eventually in my grandparents time they move further north and west.  I'm just wondering what the burial grounds would be likely to be in the 19C for Pathhead and Sinclairtown and whether I've been barking up the wrong tree by looking in Dysart.

Any advice?

Many thanks

Sarah
