No joy here either Tom. There is a Member Submitted record for the birth at Aisthorpe in about 1765 but it doesn't tell you anymore than you know already.

I dare say you know of the five Christenings on FamilySearch of children to John and Mary at Aisthorpe between 1791 & 1807, one son was named Samuel and one of the girls, Elizabeth, named after Johns parents perhaps?

It is of course possible that John was never Christend :(

Of course, if he was the John GRUNDY buried at Scampton in 1840 aged 85, he was somewhat older than the IGI submission suggests.  I'm afraid many IGI submissions are not worth the paper they're not written on.  :-\

If someone has seen the marriage register, it may say "of Aisthorpe ... but that would be place of residence, not place of birth.
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.

I think that you are right about him not being Christened as the family were Farmers and moved around from village to village I would suppose to find work so some of there children would not be christened . It`s john`s children and there children such a lot of them to put on my tree,   I think I will put them on the back burner till after the holidays  Thank you so much Alan.

Yes Geoff I do believe it is the same John Grundy I have seen it on many Trees on Ancestry. I may have a look around some of the villages from Aisthorpe up to  Misterton where some of the children were born but not till after the holidays are over.
                         Regards tom :)

Welcome to Rootschat Barry,

Hopefully Tom will answer you soon.

I just have one little problem with info posted

Burial of  John G has him age 85 in 1840 (1755) and GRO has;
GRUNDY, JOHN age 86
GRO Reference: 1840  D Quarter in LINCOLN UNION  Volume 14  Page 317

So born c 1755 not 1765?

Trish :)
