Found another Nixon grave by chance today in Rake lane
Anna Elizabeth Nixon died 1913 and a William Joseph but the small metal letters between have long gone. They were Catholics.

My 'Popes' were Primitive Methodist too. Cheshire must have been a hot-bed of non-conformism. ;D

Jane
On the I.G.I  (in Cheshire alone)and i only went as far as page 5,there were 1000 births for Nixon various spelling. But by the time i got to page 3? It was mostly Nixon, There were masses of them in Macclesfield. The earliest birth/Christening in Cheshire  (so far)was in 1651

I don't think there is much chance of finding the actual birth unless you can find the christening in Chester archives.
There Is on the I.G.I again, John Nixon C 23rd August 1807 Stoke By Chester.is that to early/
Parents Ralph Nixon & Mary.

Thanks again, Celia.
The only John Nixon christening for the right time frame that I could find in Chester archives when I went last year in the season formerly known as summer was this one
 Chester St John
Baptisms 1811
John, son of John Nixon, weaver and Ann his wife
 born April 5th 1810, christened Feb 3rd 1811
I checked all the other churches I could find.
In view of the multiplicity of Nixons in the area, it seemed a little too good to be true.
