Hi Tranesgirl, David and Dale

Its nice to see some new postings on the Freegard family.

Tranesgirl, I would be interested in hearing more about the courts involvement with  Sarah Freegard.

Dale. I'm married to one of Ron's nephew's and live in Rockingham, I'll send you a PM asap. I also have been researching the family tree for quite some time I would have loved to have joined in on the visit to the family farm in Pallinup. We sent Ron a copy of Albert's war records which are now open to download on the Australian war records site.( National achieves)

Best regards to you all

Marlene

Hi Marlene,

It was reported in the Devizes & Wiltshire Gazette of May 22nd 1890 (page 6) under the heading 'Threatening to Murder a Paramour' that armed with an axe he came home with the intention of "chopping her head in two". He threatened to murder her if she and "her family" did not leave the house. But they were his children!!

Thomas & Sarah Ann never married but cohabited for years following the death of Thomas's first wife, Sarah Walker, in 1858.

The Court found him guilty and sentenced him to 21 days in gaol with hard labour. Thomas died in 1897 and Sarah Ann a year after that.

The Rockingham you mention, Marlene, whereabouts is that?

Regards, David

Thanks David.

I remember you telling me a tale about Thomas and Sarah a few years ago when we were in contact. I believe that you mentioned that Sarah lived in the shed - Can you fill me in on some more details, I don't have any info on Sarah Walker and very little on Sarah Ann Howell. I have 9 children listed all with the surname Freeguard.

Rockingham is in Western Australia, We're hoping for a trip home before 'old age' really catches up with us - We need to explore Wiltshire's beauty spots in more detail.

Regards Marlene

Sorry David...

I have mixed up my Thomas's. I thought that you were talking about Thomas Freegard and Sarah Howell...I realise now that you are talking about Thomas Henley and Sarah Freegard..
Any info would still be appreciated.

Marlene

The letter is from 24 Apr 1908 -address - Newlands Farm, Blunsdon, Highworth, Wiltshire   In 1911 he emigrated, newly married to Western Australia, served in WW1, had a family of seven children and died in WA 1970.

Hi Rachel
I have just seen your post and would like to add that Garnet John Freegard was my grandfather. I remember meeting a Paul Weeks when I was a child. I lived at Tingoora near Kingaroy as a child but now live in Brisbane. As far as I know there is only 1 male Freegard left from this line. I have some information but am interested to find out if other Freegards I have seen in West Australia particularly are related. All Garnet's children have passed away too

Hope you get this
Gail
