Hello again, Marlene

Just noticed mistake - it was Arthur and Elizabeth May (nee Puzey) who turned down the offer of a new life in Australia (not Mary Jane!) - sorry

Regards and contrition

Hello Jacqueline.
Thanks for your quick reply. Yes of your details are correct regarding Albert and Mabel.  Fancy your mother remembering Albert's visit to your mothers house. I didn't realise that Albert had made a trip home in 1938. I knew that Mabel and her son Norman had made a journey home without Albert, returning to Australia on TSS Jervis Bay leaving London 21st Oct 1924. Your mother probably would have liked Albert's farm in Gnowangerup. Western Australia, its very similar to Wiltshire except for the flies and heat in summer.

Regards Marlene

Hi- I am Dale Freegard married to Lindsay Freegard -son of Ronald Freegard who is the son of Albert Henry Freegard (1882-1970) who was the son of Henry Freegard (1857-1909) and Mary Jane Dash 1885-1937.   I have only just started doing the Freegard family tree but see lots has been done so I am slowly reading through all what has been written.  Ron Freegard is 86 and is well and his wife Marj and retired in Albany WA.  In the next few weeks the whole family has organized a bus and we all going to Gnowangerup to see the old farm that Albert farmed on etc.
Love to hear from other Freegard family.

Regards Dale

Hi Dale,

Good to hear from you. Our common ancestor is George Freegard 1698-1770. You come down from his son, Thomas 1736-1825, whereas I cascade from his brother, Charles 1735-1808.

So, welcome aboard. I'm sure you'll find many cousins here in the UK.

Regards, David

I have just stumbled upon this post and am wondering if someone could help me with a Freegard family in Calne.  Sarah Ann Freegard was born in Bremhill, Wilts 1836.  On some census she is recorded as housekeeper to Thomas Henly of Calne.  It would appear that Thomas fathered several children with Sarah Ann but never married her.  At one point I believe Thomas Henly asked the courts to rid her of his household.  Their several children were all registered as Henly Freegard but later some took the surname of Henly and became Freegard Henly.

I wonder if anyone could shed anything more about this dysfunctional family.

Hi Trancesgirl,

I think I can offer you some help with this family. I'll send you a PM and we can go on from there.

All the best, David
