Albert William Hoare Death look up please
« on: Sunday 19 December 10 11:06 GMT (UK) »
I am having trouble finding a death record for my Grandfather, Albert William Hoare.

He was born 26 June 1868 in Brixton. He married Mary Rosina Stuart on 20 Sept 1898 at St. Mary, Lambeth.

The last known address I have for him from the 1911 census is  2 ROSE COTTAGES GORDON RD WEALDSTONE.

I know he was alive in 1928 as I have a medal presented to him by the RAOB (Buffaloes) dated  15 Nov 1928.

Hi,

A long shot.... which you may have seen!

A Mary R Hoare died in 1938 aged 64 which fits yours, the district was Hendon, there is an Albert W Hoare who died Hendon in 1945 BUT the age was 27 (and it is on the actual page), your Albert would have been 77 and I'm just wondering if it is worth an ask in case it has been wrongly entered?

Hi junev

Yes, I've seen that entry, I think I need someone to visit the local register office to check it out.

I have a cousin x1 removed who lives in Ruislip, who is also researching the family. It might be possible for him to go to the local office for me.

Thanks for your help.

I passed the details of the death record to my cousin x1 and he visited Hendon Register Office on Friday 31/12/2010. The result was positive, the age in the transcription IS WRONG, the entry in the register confirms age at death as 77. The Register Office also confirmed his wife is buried in the same grave. My cousin was also given details of the grave's location in Harrow cemetery and also went there.
Quote from my cousin "unfortunately there was not marker or grave stone, but we are sure that we found the plot, its mostly under a tree now."

Hi Dave,

Glad that it turned out to be the right record. Pity about the tree but at least you now know their final resting place.

Happy New Year.

Dave,
I'm sorry I don't have any info. on your grandfather, but I believe his sister Ellen was my great-grandmother.  She married Oliver Padfield.  I'm just starting my search and was wondering if you have any information on her.

Thank you
Don Padfield

Hi Don

I have found your tree on Ancestry and have connected to you.

I'm afraid I have no further information about Ellen, other than that she was my Grand Aunt.

If fact you had more info than I did, as I only had her birth, but I see we have a difference as to where she was born. You have Brixton and I have Clapham.

The 1871 & 1881 census's both give Clapham as the place of birth, though the 1891 shows it as Brixton.

Dave,
Thank you for responding.  Since your grandfather and my great-grandmother were brother and sister, I guess we are some distant cousins.  In fact, I may be a name sake of your grandfather.  Ellen's son - my grandfather and your grandfather's nephew -  was named Albert, and then his son - my dad - was Raymond Albert and I am Donald Albert.  It may all be coincidence - but you never know.  Thank you again

Don

Hi Don

According to Ancestry's relationship calculator you are my 2nd cousin 1x removed.

I guess, from what I have seen on Ancestry, that you live in St Louis.

My mother's maiden name was Rose Cook and she told me some years ago that some relation of hers was living in Buffalo. As yet I have had no luck tacking them down.

Please keep in touch.
