Hi Penerod, I am related to you through William & Martha.

So far, I've managed to find the following children for William & Martha and as you will see there is a rather large gap for more possibilities. Unfortunately (even with the help of Rootschat), the family appear not to be on the 1861 or 1871 census.

William Charles 1856-1901  (my great-great granddad)

Frederick James 1864-1872
John Walter 1866-   (married Emma Doy)
Joseph Henry 01/08/1868  (bapt 04/10/1868 St Philip, Clerkenwell) . Family were living at 1 Wilmington Place.
Louis Vincent 1871
Margaret Eleanor 1872-
Jesse Herbert 1876-1878
Bertram Francis 1878-1879
Rose Adeline 1881-

Hope this is of help to you. Kanskar

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping I may get a reply from one of you and hopefully somebody has a connection to my Rodway?
My great grandfather was Henry Rodway, who was born in Holborn (Camden London) in 1901 I believe. He married my great grandmother Ethel sweeting in 1930 in Islington and they eventually moved away to Stevenage (im not sure when).
Henry and his brothers or sons (not sure on names) were goldsmiths and apparently made king George VI's signet ring, queen Elizabeth II's engagement ring. He also was given the freedom of the city of London at some point in his life. I don't know if any of this is true, although I definitely know he was a goldsmith/jewellery maker.

I also heard stories of them running a fish stall at some point on chapel street.
I would be grateful of any information that anyone might have!

Hi, Mamajan

Seen your recent post.  I cannot say at this moment if our Rodways are connected. I would need to know who Henry's parents or maybe grandparents were to say for sure if our Rodways were linked or not.

Cheers

Hi kanskar,

It just so happens I got some new info about his parents today! His mother was Elizabeth Dewson and his father was Alfred Rodway. They also lived in Camden area of London. I have his siblings names too. Nellie, Eliza, Samuel, William, Margaret, Alfred, Elizabeth and George.

If you see any links please let me know :) thanks Mamajam

Mamajan. I believe we are related.

My 3xgreat grandad was William Rodway (1835-1911). His youngest brother was your Alfred (b 1862 St Luke's).

Parents were William James Rodway and Margaret (nee Stock).

A further generation back is James Rodway and Mary Griffiths.

Some of the previous posts give you some more names of family members.

Hope this helps. Kanskar.

Oh wow! Yes! That is the exact information I have found out today via Genes Reunited, from another family member who is a descendant of Eliza Rodway (alfred's daughter - one of).
Except the furthest their tree goes back is to William Rodway and Margaret stock. So I didn't know william's middle name nor his parents names, so this is great news! I shall have a read back through the thread now I know this information. As the names meant nothing to me when I first posted on here, but now I will know who is who hopefully!

It's a pleasure to virtually meet you :)
