Sherriff Hales
« on: Wednesday 15 December 10 19:47 GMT (UK) »
In 1922 James and Sarah Hicks left Sherrif Hales (then owned by the Duke of Sutherland) and were given a silver tray on leaving the village. Has anyone any information either about the farm (which was  Manor Farm) or  Sherriff Hales as it was on Shropshire /staffordshire border at that time.

Hi VeraH,

If you google Sherrifhales (all one word), it brings up a Wikipedia page that mentions Manor Farm.  I don't know if this is of any use to you.

The village has a scarecrow festival in September these days but I don't know how far back that tradition would have gone.

oops sorry, it's Meadow Farm that was mentioned in the article, as being the main farm.
