Witness name please COMPLETED
« on: Wednesday 15 December 10 07:21 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

Can anyone decipher the bottom witness's name to the London, 1846 marriage of John Nicolson and Marianne Wiseman?  It does not appear to be any family member that I can recognise - but Marianne and her father are a brick wall, and I need all the clues I can get!

Regards,
Stephanie

A very clear uck iin the middle but the rest isn't as clear... I've stared at it for a while and even wondering if it is one name or 2 as in the line above but can't see a second capital letter  :-\

... the upward strokes in the first letter are very faint so I was imagining there could be a faint i (Mike) ...  then the 2nd to last letter is quite hard to imagine! and the 3rd to last is probably a very curly d

There was a BUCKERIDGE marriage in the same church as John and Marianne the year before.

Thanks everyone,

It may well be William Buckeridge, who married Elizabeth Louisa Pestell in the same church a year earlier.  He was a railway porter.

You guys are good!
