Gus LINQUIST - Port Lincoln
« on: Tuesday 14 December 10 04:41 GMT (UK) »
My great Aunt Myra Ethel Ann Golley (1902-1957) who lived and died in Port Lincoln South Australia, married a Gus Linquist.
There-in lies my dilemma.
All I can find is an Ernest Gustaf Ferdinand Linquist who died on 7 Nov 1955 in South Australia. I am hoping this is my "Gus".
I believe there may have been a daughter named Lorna Linquist.
Any help please?

Hi Terri

The relative of Myra Ethel Ann named on her death record was Ernest Gustaf Ferdinand LINDQUIST deceased.

Did not find a marriage record in SA up to 1937.

Thanks Essie - I was taking a total 'stab in the dark'. Thank you so much - it does look like the right person. I have a feeling he was probably a friend of Axel Stenross ( who started the Museum in Pt Lincoln)
How do I find death information like you did?
Thanks too, tropicalj, i was looking at those people but just not sure.

Hi Terri,

SA BMD's are available in Book, microfiche and CD. You will find they are available in most libraries in SA and major libraries interstate. They are also available for purchase in all formats. Complete SA BMD's are not available online. Ancestry does have some which they have accessed from publically available sources. They are often incomplete, and should not be trusted for accuracy.

Cheers Kris  :)

Hi.
are you saying i can purchase a CD with BMD info for South Australia? Can you tell me how to do this? Is it a comprehensive listing or am I going to be as frustrated as I am now trying to get info from the web?
Thanks

Yes Terri,

They are available to purchase. To get full coverage it is not one disk - there are 6 disks involved for all available civil registrations. (2 for births, 2 for marriages and 2 for deaths) -  they are not cheap! If you are interested I suggest you google for suppliers.  ;)

Cheers Kris  :)

The Museum was created in honour of Axel Stenross a local shipwright by some of Port Lincoln wooden boat historians.
Google - local.yahoo.com.au/search/axel-stenross-maritime.../port-lincoln-sa

I used to visit the slipway when I was a child with my father who was a close fiend of Axel's. I will ask my mother (aged 84) if she remembers any of the Lindquist's.

Hi Jack . My mother came from Pt Lincoln also. Her parents were Mary Alice Maud Golley and Victor Vaino Haapanen.  He was also a friend of Axel Stenross and arrived in Pt Lincoln in 1922 on the 'Port Caladonia'.
family rumour says that Mary had quite a reputation for 'playing up' -possibly even with Axel. The large Golley clan married into the Danzic, Berryman, Waters, Kean, Bascombe and Lindquist familys
