Would anyone know an internet site that has the record of licensed victuallers in Northumberland during the 1870's
Thanks
Chester

Registers of licences had to be kept from 1872. "Victuallers' licences, records for family & local historians" by Gibson & Hunter, FFHS, lists the surviving records, and their location. http://www.samjraymond.btinternet.co.uk/ffhs.htm#vict2
There are 219 Licensed Victuallers/Victuallers listed in Northumberland in the 1881 Census.

Census Information is Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk

Thanks Stan for that information.
In the 1891 Census for All Saints Newcastle On Tyne - 74 Wesley St, Mary McCue , head, widow, aged 49, retired licensed victualler, b Ireland is listed.
I'm trying to establish the name and address of the inn that Mary was a victualler at; license duration etc and also if possible where Mary was born in Ireland.
Any leads would be truly appreciated.

This might be of interest to you. I am looking for a George Wilkinson, licensed victualler who married Ellen Cunningham b. Belfast, Ireland they had a daughter Annie/Anna Wilkinson. She married Joseph Cooney and then married a William Walton and I have been looking at Williams  family as he is my non biological grt grandad. Today I have found out that Williams mum on 1901 census,  Isabella Walton, was living on Wesley Street, All Saints, Newcastle upon Tyne. When Annie married William in 1911 Annie's father George Wilkinson is deceased but was a Licensed Victualler and she is living at Liverpool Square. I have ordered the Victuallers record book to look for my licensed victualler and will look for yours and let you know.
