Hi Carol and Carole,
Thanks for the replies,ALL those census returns are the right ones as the children all tally and I have all their birth certificates.
You can see how confused I was getting with his  age varying so much and the Bath birthplace threw me completely for a while but I decided to concentrate on the names and ages of wife and children, I did always have doubts about  Sophia/John as his parents , as I thought that he would have had some mention of building worker or labouring.

Also was confused about the St.Giles, Cornwall  for them both but Susan was born/living in St.Giles area of London, so I believe her to be from London,
But William nearly always appears as Cornwall, or Bath, I wondered if he may have had work there and it was put down on that particular Census.

Thats the first time CaroleW that I've seen anything relating to Esther Mary other than her Marriage Certificate. And her Dad is a William, and there is another brother, this tallies  to stories my Nan told me, as she said her Grandad  (William) and his brothers( so I think there must have been at least one more) had a building firm in Marylebone, and owned quite a few houses which were let out, and the brothers took turns in rent collecting, also my Nans dad, Charles, and his brothers were all builders , plasterers, and painters and presumably their cousins.
What does confuse me is if they are all in London , at least Esther and William were, why I can't find a death certificate for their Dad William Roberts Wyatt in either London or Cornwall.
18 was quite young for Esther to have been in London   to get married , it would seem that maybe the family moved here, or at least some of them at quite a young age, I would presume she knew her husband for a while before marriage and their Dad isn't down as deceased on the marriage certificates.
Another, silly little thing, after his wife Susan died, William remarried and had another daughter called....Esther Mary, this was one of the reasons, (tenuous, I know) that I thought the first Esther Mary could be his sister.
I think I had better remove Sophia and her sons from my tree, on Ancestry.

Do you  know how best to go about finding Cornish records?, being in London, it seems miles away, and to be honest I really have no idea where to begin, as I really don't have much to go on,do I?
I don't even really know where in Cornwall to look, though from the records you have sent for Esther and John, St.Austell seems a good start!!!!
I can't thank you enough for the help you have given me , at least I now know who's not his family, would be grateful for any pointers you may have!
Take care both of you and thanks again eita

Hello Osprey,
Thank you for those links , I've had a quick nose through some of them and using the other information you gave me, seem to have found 5 siblings of the first William Roberts Wyatt, my 3x Grandad, obviously  I'll look into it closer, but I'm getting quite excited after all this time of getting no where!!!!!
So good of you, all help is much appreciated, Thank you so much, eita

Thanks again Osprey, your brilliant at this, aren't you?
Feel a bit of a nincompoop, but your help is really appreciated, I wouldn't have found all this information in a month of Sundays!!!!!!
Its all so interesting too, totally different to the research I've been doing on the Midlands side of my family, not that that isn't interesting but its different.
Many Thanks again, and I will have a look at the Cornish resources board , too!
Take care, eita

Hi CaroleW,
Thanks for that, one way to find out I'll send off for the certificate.
Seems a coincidence that Bath came up on one of the censuses and then that death turns up, a 10 year discrepency in age but to be honest, there seems to be a lot of that, and unless I send off for it I won't know if its Gt.Gt.Gt.Grandad or not will I?
If it is there should be some information on it that hopefully I can tally in somewhere, if it isn't? Well, it wouldn't be the first time, I've got the wrong certificate!
Can't thank you and osprey and the other Carol enough for all this help, have had a look at the St. Austell links, Osprey sent me, and am getting a lot further than I have in the last couple of years, think I'm a bit thick, on the quiet!!!!
As I said before any help is gratefully recieved, Thank you so much all of you!!!!!!
Go careful everyone, best wishes eita

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the help, I've been looking around and have now found a parish marriage record for William Roberts Wyatt to a Mary Hodson on 10th of Sept. 1832 in LONDON!!!!!!!!!!
Could this be my William Roberts Wyatt's (1840) Mum and  Dad, if so why would they marry in London and have the children in Cornwall?????
Would like to hear your thoughts???
Could he have been working in London, met and married her and whisked her off to Cornwall to live happily ever after or am I being an old romantic?????

Thanks eita

Hi

Well - so we now have the parents marrying in London as well as at least 2 of their children - interesting!!

We need William & Mary on the 1851 census either in Cornwall or in London to get their birthplaces
