Thank you Anne,
the property was finally sold in about 1888, who too we do not know, whether it still holds that name we do not know, but yes, the family would have been recognized with the property name between at least 1840 and when it was sold,, hence the mention of Samuel Phillips and "Wallenbillen"
as it was his father Samuel (1st) who arrived out here as convict, Samuel (2nd) born 1842, so it would appear they were well known throughout the region, Samuel (1st) was lic to 3 Inns in Molong, one names "The Travellers Rest" still standing and resided in today, the Phillips family grew up in the areas between Molong and Dubbo with many branches including that of Jesse Litchfield well known for her work with local mags in Melb and setting up of missions for aboriginal in NT, there is the "Litchfield National Park" up there,
but having trouble with finding the location of this property, someone is bound to known.
Freer, Stewart, Blair, Bruce, Wylie, Henderson, Nichols, Ward, Weddell, Waddell, Lear, Gruneison, Maitland, Freeman, Sawyers, Logan, Phillips, Whitely.

1870 NSW ER

There's a Samuel Phillips with a leasehold at Wolombolong part of the FORBES police district at that time and the electorate was THE BOGAN  ::)

Flogged, do you think "Wolombolong" could be mistaken for "Molong" in those family records  :)

Cheers,

JM

BELLS AND WHISTLES
1878 NSW ER, Electorate THE BOGAN

Line 5712
Phillips, Samuel at Wallanbillan, leaseholder, Bogan River, Forbes Police District

Now to figure out the Parish to get Flogged to the right map ....  County: ASHBURNHAM is Forbes and district NOW, and you may need the sheets with all the lot numbers etc and sizes as that's important to the clues on lists of land grants etc.  Forbes was explored by John Oxley way back in late 1810's and early 1820's.  Oxley died 1828 ... land grants in Forbes district date from around that era, so Wallanbillan could go way back and be a tad difficult to find...

Gerry
Thanks Gerry, but today Dandaloo is but a one horse town, a drive through really.
No offence to those of the area if you are viewing this.
