Hi,

You were lucky Carol, my father burnt all family stuff before his death in 2000 to be nasty. All l have is mom's birth cert to get my grandparents names John Graham and Lillian Graham nee Fulford from Birkenhead Cheshire. They died John in 1960  age 73 and Lilian age 76 in 1968 l have their death certs which don't enlighten me at all. l have search for their marriage from 1907 to 1914 and unless l missed it cann't find them. l found 1 John Graham born in 1887 which is about the right year, Lilian should be abt 1892 but have come up with nothing. All this because of one mean old man.

tarnee

My grandad done that too (mum's dad) we think it was after WW2.
So we had to buy copies of his medals, there are no photos of him in Army uniform, or their baby son who died at 18 months, any photos in fact. He burnt the lot.
It is so sad. We have his marriage cert, but we could have ordered a new on if that was the case.
I also cannot find my g grandfathers birth, so I guess he was one of those not registered  :-\

Hi Tarnee

I am glad you have found what you are looking for.   :D

I knew my grandfather, he died when I was 19, but he destroyed all his paperwork, photos, medals, etc....
I can't find his father, and there is no birth registered for his father either.  ???
B c1863/4. On the census he is down as being born in Islington on one, and West Ham on another one ???

I have tried on here to find him, but with no luck.
Although I do have my g grandfathers marriage and death certificate, but I cannot find him on early census, or a birth certificate.

I wont give up though  ;)

Cheers

Just a silly little Christmas question ! What does this  word or abbreviation ' lol ' mean ?? I see it all over the  place but to me it only means ' lots of love ' - am I missing something ? ? ::) ::)

Hi Emmeline,

I see there were several replies.

Your "lots of love" is a brilliant interpretation.

In the right context it can also mean "little old lady."

My deceased father-in-law + sick sister-in- law had this attitude.Power not to tell info!!! Very spiteful .I'm searching
for mother of Joseph Watkison Lund born abt 1874 Pontefract or Thurnscoe area ? Can anyone help ? ive searched Anc.com and IGI.Heres hoping .

This is very old, so you've probably moved on, but this is a possibility:

Birth
Dec 1872     Basford 7b 110
Joseph Watkinson LUNN

Thanks Richard .Yes you are right . I have come to realise that people who try to do this to others are pathetic & sad .There are always ways & means .
