Parkmore, Co. Wicklow.
« on: Wednesday 10 November 10 00:25 GMT (UK) »
I have found information that my gg grandfather - Mr. Philip Kinsella of 10 Wentworth Place in Dublin 2 - lived there in 1901.  On the 1901 census it mentions his wife Elizabeth who is from Parkmore, Co. Wicklow Age 66.

I am trying to find a marriage for them so that I can find her maiden name and continue the search in Co. Wicklow.  Can anybody give me any information on Parkmore, if the church there is RC or CofI and if there is any way that I can trace Elizabeth without having a maiden name here.

I have just found that Elizabeths maiden name is Norton.  I have found two births - Rosanna 4/5/1874 and Mary 11/12/1872 with Philip Kinsella.

Can anybody help me find out more about Elizabeth and whereever Parkmore is.  Thank you.

Hi there

Elizabeth must died somewhere between 1901 and 1911 as Phillip is a widower in the 1911 aged 75 living with his grandsons the murphy's

still 10 Wentworth....

will keep scouting round

there seems to be two townlands named Parkmore in Co. Wicklow - one near to Carnew in the Registration District of Shillelagh. The other is in the Newcastle area and Rathdrum registration district.

I found both on google maps:

 Carnew to Parkmore (1)

 Rathdrum to Parkmore (2)

Shane

p.s. there may be a 3rd Parkmore - still checking..

I think a search for the marriage of Philip & Elizabeth might be the next step - as that would show fathers names and occupations

Ah that's brilliant Shane Thank you so much.  I'm going to send off for that immediately.  Would you know if all these certificates can be looked at in Dublin without sending to Roscommon for them?  I have bits of information but don't know where to start looking to put it all together.  Do they also hold all the old newspapers too?

You cannot view certs, but you can order and collect certs in the GRO research room in Dublin (Abbey St) - see : www.groireland.ie

For newspapers try the National Library - they have an online index which shows which papers they have : Newspaper Index Database
