William Farrell/Mary Nolan
« on: Sunday 05 December 10 13:33 GMT (UK) »
William Farrell married Mary Nolan approx 1853 (possibly Rathfarnham, but unsure). They had 11 children, 8 of which survived. They lived in Firhouse in a property owned by the Order of Carmelite.
The children I have traced are Anne b 1856; Elizabeth b 1864; Ellen b 1867; Isaac b 1869; Margaret b 1872; Joan b 1874; William b 1877 and Patrick b 1880.
I am hoping that someone has a a family tree featuring these relatins of mine and would appreciate it very much if they were willing to share information.
All help appreciated, Bren

not sure if you've already tried, but the Irish Genealogy website has RC records for the parish of Rathfarnham

 see: http://www.irishgenealogy.ie/

Thanks Shane, I've been there trying to find a marriage record for William and Mary but no luck. Anne b 1856 was baptised in Rathfarnham hence my thinking that they wed in Rathfarnham.

I presume the family were RC  ... the records for Rathfarnham go back to the 1770s or so - so maybe they married somewhere else ?

It might be worth trying the neighbouring parishes to see if Mary's family moved outside Rathfarnham at some stage. In the 1850s these would probably be Sandyford, Saggart (includes Rathcoole & Newcastle), Clondalkin, Rathmines, Booterstown and possibly Palmerstown (which included Lucan & Clondalkin)

Hi, I wonder if there are any descendants of William and Mary Farrell on Rootschat who can help me go back and find their marriage and William's birth date. I'm sure I have Mary's baptism details, 1835 in Rathfarnham, parents Isac and Mary Nowlan.

Hi There

Hum, such a shame with the surnames, always tricky when they are common ones.

I've noticed this baptism ~ could it bring the marriage further back ?

Hi There

Can you just clarify what info you NOW have for William and Mary ?!

Are you right in saying that she was born in 1835 and still having children in 1880 ~ not unheard of I know but I just am looking for a timeframe.

You have Anne Farrell as one of their children, are you sure of this one as she is a LOT earlier than the rest ?!

There does appear to be another William Farrell and Mary Nolan in the Rathfarnham parish having children at that time !

The list below seems more plausable to me !

Elizabeth Farrell 1864
Ellen Farrell 1867
Isaac Farrell 1869
Margaret Mary Farrell 1872
Joanna (Jane) Farrell 1874
William Farrell 1877
Patrick Joseph Farrell 1880

If this is correct then it firmly roots the family in Firhouse / Bohernabreena after their marriage.
