I am descended from William Knowler (born 1790, Ash next Sandwich) and Elizabeth Ann Whitnall/Witnall - and all variants of that name! - (born 1806, Sibertswold/Shepherswell) through their son Thomas (born 1837, Chillenden) and Hannah Laws (born 1844, Swingfield). Do any of these figure in your trees? I have loads of information from 1790 on but nothing definite on the Knowlers further back. Chrisann

Good job you checked Brenda, yes I made the mistake, I have 20/10/1720 in my notes for this Henry Knowler marriage.
The marriage was in Crundale and Henry was from Wye.
By Mary's name is otp but I cannot find her in Crundale, I cannot find Henry born in Wye but can find a possible Mary in Wye.

So sorry to have confused the issue by my carelessness!!
all the best

Hi Chrisann, sorry I have no Knowlers from this area.

I too am stuck. I am looking for a Henry Knowler  who married Eliz Boulden in 1786, so presume he was born around 1750-1760's. The only one I can find is in Chilham. So for the moment I have left him!!

Watney, I cannot find your Henry c around 1695-1700 either.

What fun it is looking!!!

Thanks Lis. Unconfirmed information suggests that my William's parents (also William and Mary, grr) were from Chilham so, you never know, we may all match up later  :)  I guess we must at some point anyway - 1066 and all that? Chrisann

I now find Brenda that accepting as a possibility a Henry Knowler who married my Eliz Boulden in 1786, I find I am back with your little Crundale family. I used to live in the next village to Crundale and its beautiful!!. I didn't know then that I had heaps of ancestors from these few lovely villages.
So my possible Henry is brother to your Eliz!!

What fun!!

Hello Lis, I have found a christening for a Henry Knowler February 1696 in Adisham, son of John and Elizabeth Knowler, so this could be a possible.

This looks good to me especially as we know none of this can be proved if there are no Wills to back it up. We know that our ancestors moved around far more than we think they did.

I have gone back down Mary Hudson family and was stopped by the Commonwealth years.
