Looking to find how and when Elizabeth Barr born 1852 arrived from Dublin circa 1871.  her death registry entry said that she had been in Victoria 54 years.  Married John Ramsay in Melbourne 1872.  She died 1927. :)

Earlier posts on Dublin board-
Hello
I believe that the Andrew Barr family are also my forebears and would like to learn more about them.My great grandmother was Eliza Barr born 3rd April 1852 whose father was Andrew Barr a ropemaker from Dublin.  Her death certificate entry says so and there was a relative Maria.
Eliza married a John Ramsay in Victoria, Australia in 1872.  Their first child was named Maria.  My grandmother was the third child.
I have plenty of the Ramsay history but not the Barrs.
I would be grateful if you could help.
Thanking you

Thankyou Mark for the reply.
My Ramsay ancestor, also John (great grandfather) came to WA 1851 as an 8 yr old and later moved to live in Victoria.  His father was Robert, a pensioner guard on the convict ship Minden.  He was ex Royal Artillery.  John born at Woolwich UK.  I have much of the Ramsay history of this line but am stuck as regards Elizabeth (Eliza/Lily) nee Barr,  wife of John.  She came from Dublin.  I can't find how or when she reached Australia - about 1871 the best guess.
I don't think we have the same Ramsay ancestors.  Would you know from where in Scotland your Ramsays originated?
Regards
