Really enjoyed this one as Rod Marsh is a favourite of mine with his laid back attitude!
The only thing I would have like to have seen was a bit on  his mother's side and the full family.
I must admit I took the names of each of them down and will try to look them up on the WA BMD site!
Kind regards
Bev

Hi Bev, we did do extensive research into Rod's maternal line and tried to crack a tantilsing myth that Rod is related to Dr David Livingstone on this side but at the end of the day his paternal stories were more interesting and provable through documents. Please know that we do give the celebs a full research download both on the road and in a book form at the end of their journeys...............so they do have this information to take home with them.

In the Rod Marsh episode I would have liked to see Rod go back to that first cousin to see her reaction when she was told about the adultery and death of her Grandmother.

I know there are time restraints to every episode but sometimes the best part of watching and doing family research is seeing the response when people hear the stories.

Hi Thornett, we had time restrictions with filming with Rod, but we did arrange for cousin Gail (who appeared in the film) to be united with cousin Nola, baby Amy's daughter and her siblings , off camera, to explore and discuss Amy and Jack's story :)
I believe it was a great catchup.

I suppose we must keep in mind that many people would not want to appear on camera  especially if the "story" hits a raw nerve or two. So to the viewer it might look like there are some loose ends to tie up, whereas there are things happening behind the scenes off camera that we aren't aware of. So your explanations are really helpful thanks Diana.  :)

does anyone else fail to see how daniel marsh had much to do with how rod turned out? if we had seen how his son who adopted rods father was and how rods father was brought up maybe i could have made the connection. showing a story on daniel just because he was interesting seems to miss the whole point of wdytya in my opinion.
are sbs laying down the law about the prog taking a diff direction to suit the market. ie tell us what's coming up at the start and just pick an interesting story whatever its about.
i notice the original uk prog doesnt feel the need to do this.

Good point Perth. I think it was the argument about "nature" vs "nurture", however by taking that a generation further back makes any "nurture" argument even more tenuous.

I suppose if Daniel had been a huge influence on son and adopted gransdon it may be relevant ....

Excellent show. What an interesting story it was. Would love to know what happened to the 2 older girls.
Looking forward to the rest of the series
