I looked it up and a Robert W Holgate died in Northam in 1920.  If this was him, I wonder what happend to the 2  girls that he kept with him.   I couldn't remember their names to see anything of them.
Kind regards
Bev

Sorry, Robert W Holgate died in Northam in 1943.   Ir was Amy Holgate who died in Geraldton in 1920.  She must have been known as Amy Dutton, but the official certificate seems to be as Holgate (Geraldton regn no 78).

War Service Records show that Robert also enlisted for WWII and his daughter Minnie (Mrs O'Connor ??) was listed as his next of kin.
Also found an interesting 'In Memoriam' on Trove where both the Dutton and Holgate families had inserted notices.
Obviously some of Robert's siblings also settled in WA - did they all come out together?

The daughters' names were Minnie and Julia  :)
I live in Sydney, Australia, and I'm researching: Powell, Tatham, Dunbar, Dixon, Mackwood, Kinnear, Mitchell, Morgan, Delves, & Anderson

Hi Sarra,
For some reason I may have been doing something wrong and couldn't get to read the divorce thingy.   I could only get the mention at the beginning!
What was it about?
Kind regards
Bev

Hi Bev,

Just do a normal search for Amy Holgate and the various results will come up. http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/result?q=amy%20holgate

Yes he was 54 years 7 months old - never too old it seems.

You have to admire him.

perth :)

Apologies for the delay in responding to some of these posts.............I am currently in the UK with a dodgy internet connection and without all Rod's research to hand. But can tell you that John "Jack" Dutton and his wife Mary emigrated to Western Australia. Hope this helps :)
