what where duttons ancestors like? did amy holgate's ancestors have anything to do with how rod see's himself as turning out?

Rod was actually not interested in finding out more about the Duttons but of course we did in our research but there is only so much that can be fitted into our set 52 mins!

Loved the story.
Congratulations Rod on joining the throng of people learning just how hard life was back then. Oh how time has changed the way and the comfort of how we live.
The fact that his convict made good parallels my own convicts life which may just be an idea for a TV series ..... "British outcasts make good in Australia" ... Just don't forget to force it down the throats of the British public.
Loved the twist about the last convict ship.
Well Rod ..... The itch is there .... It won't be long before you go searching for the sent of the Dutton bloodline back into time ...... enjoy.

Really enjoyed this one as Rod Marsh is a favourite of mine with his laid back attitude!
The only thing I would have like to have seen was a bit on  his mother's side and the full family.
I must admit I took the names of each of them down and will try to look them up on the WA BMD site!

Something I liked from the older series but I don't think they do much anymore (with the repeats on BBC Knowledge it is hard to tell the order anymore) is when the celeb goes back to family to tell the story. The two that stick out the most are Kim Cattrall and Julian Cleary.

In the Rod Marsh episode I would have liked to see Rod go back to that first cousin to see her reaction when she was told about the adultery and death of her Grandmother.

I know there are time restraints to every episode but sometimes the best part of watching and doing family research is seeing the response when people hear the stories.

Yes it used to be that it was the celeb's parents who wanted to find out about a certain ancestor. I also liked seeing the reaction of the family when the findings were revealed.

I did enjoy this episode of  WDYTYA.

However I did have some sympathy for Robert W Holgate.

Seems James Dutton was a friend of Robert William Holgate -
