1901 Census Upper Malven St. Belfast

Please could anyone help me to track down William Bradshaw and wife Sarah at the above address.    I have actually been to Belfast twice to look at the films in the PRONI, but had no success in finding the street.   When Mary Ann Campbell Bradshaw, my husband's mother was born in July 1902 that was her birth place. It was Urban District No 3, of Belfast.

1900 there is about 15 Samuel Campbell's living in Belfast.

The 1861 Directory mentions Malvern Street, off Shankill Road, formerly McAllen's Place.
It does not mention any residents - it just states that there were twenty small houses

Co. Antrim Shankill A - F (head of household only) mentions several Bradshaw families but makes no mention of Malvern Street

Thank you Christopher and Anthony for your response to my message regarding Upper Malvern Street, and Bradshaw/Campbell families.     It was interesting to see that Samuel Campbell lived at 123 as my husband's mother was born at 122, but I couldn't find the street on the 1901 Census despite there being a Street Index in the PRONI.  I don't know what connection there is to Campbells at this stage.  Adams was the maiden name of her mother, but I am sure there is going to be a connection.

Hello Butlerclan,

On 06 November 1893, William John Bradshaw married Sarah Adams at St. Anne's Parish Church, Belfast.

On 27 July 1902, Mary Anne Campbell Bradshaw was born at 122 Upper Malvern Street, Shankill Road, Belfast.  Malvern St no longer exists, although it can be found on old Belfast maps.

William John Bradshaw was the 7th child of James Bradshaw and Margaret Jane Purvis.  James Bradshaw was the son of Samuel Bradshaw.

Only just seen your reply to my ancient message, and many thanks for the web-site.  I hadn't realised James & Margaret had had seven children.  I am only just revisiting my Butler family after several years because I had come up against brick walls, which happily appear to be crumbling at last.

Further reply, in case you are responsible for the web-site, which I have found fascinating, Sarah, William Bradshaw's wife and mother of my mother-in-law Mary Ann Campbell Bradshaw, passed away on the 10th August 1902 following the birth of Mary.   She died of what was often a common complaint following child-birth, puerperal fever.

Reply to Anthony from way back.   You kindly mentioned that a Campbell family were living next door to where my mother in law, Mary Ann Campbell Bradshaw was born in 1902.  At the time of your offer re Campbells I didn't think there could be any connection, but I have been thinking about the circumstances of Mary Ann's birth and the death a week or so later of her mother, and think that maybe the woman of the Campbell household may have looked after Mary Ann as her mother was sick, and in gratitude her father may have added Campbell to her Christian names.  What do you think of that?

It could be that Anthony no longer subscribes to Rootschat, but I hope these thoughts might be of interest to someone in any case.
