Edward Hurdman abt 1796 Peopleton
« on: Thursday 02 December 10 13:29 GMT (UK) »
Hello

I was wondering if anybody could provides some leads on the parenatage and siblings of Edward.

I have traced Edward and his family in the various censuses (with variants of the surname). At some point he married Sarah b. abt 1793 Aston, Warks in the 1820s and by the time of the 1841 census had settled in Wolverhampton.

There is a Henry Hurdman b. abt 1798 who married Priscilla Playden at Peopleton 31 Dec 1822 and appears in the census returns for Peopleton but the returns record his birthplace as Abberton. Henry appears to be the son of Richard and Elizabeth and was christened there on 16 Dec 1798.

Henry also had a number of siblings christened at Abberton in the 1790s and 1800s but, unfortunately. not an Edward.

I have also located another Hurdman couple - Joseph and sarah who had three Hurdman children christened between 1802-1805 but, again, no Edward.

Any help would be appreciated.

Mel

Thanks Jim

That looks about right because the first child was born about 1828.

It did occur to me if anyone has access to the Worcestershire Marriage Index if they could do a look up to see if there are any marriages in the vicinity of Kempsey/Peopleton for a Joseph Hurdman and a Sarah other than that beween Joseph Hurdman and Sarah Tonguekiss at Kempsey in 1790.

There are three christeninings recorded for Hurdmans between 1802-5 at Peopleton and the parents were Joseph Hurdman and Sarah. These are highly likely to be the parents of Edward given the small size of the village.

Thanks

Mel
