Young and Temora are approx 80km apart so I think this is "your" Alice.

I can't see a birth for a Lily Batten with that mother.

I should mention , just to keep the search wide, that on the births of most of the children to  ALICE her second given name is in fact HELENA.

The daughter was perhaps named after her.

The name ELEANOR, does, however, appear in reference to her in some instances.

I suspect the Alice E birth is the one

Yes that is my Alice - father Thomas Upton, mother Margaret Connelly.
Annie - the death of Lily Batten obviously didn't mention a father....was it a Victorian death or NSW?
And Sue, you are right, Alice had both Eleanor and Helena as a middle name on various entries.
When I attach a photo - do I have to do anything else other than click"post".......I just can't sem to get it to work.......would love to show you the photo of the "sisters"

Do you have some certification of birth or...?

It is always best for a good search if you give the forum all the information you have as early as you can in the thread

Hi Sue,
Sorry about that - I just thought that as I was seeking the daughter of Alice, I didn't think Alice's parents were relevant - but, of course, all information is important.
Alice was listed on the death certificates of both parents, and I have the baptism record for Alice Helena Upton in Young on 31st January 1872.
