Laurie,

Do you have access to the England 1911 census?

Maybe I am getting too suspicious here, but I think Dora/Mary's marriage to Edward may have been bigamous?

June quarter 1903, Dudley, there is an Edward Hadley getting married to either Sarah Newey or Agnes Maud Brettell.
1911 census (RG14PN17444 RG78PN1067 RD372 SD4 ED21 SN267) shows a Sarah Hadley living in Dudley with her widowed mother Sarah Newey.
She has a child, Sarah Hadley Newey.

Lance Corporal Edward Hadley was stationed with the SW Borderers in Medway, Kent in 1911.

Then we find the marriage of Edward Hadley to Dora/Mary Rush in November 1911.

Need concrete evidence though - and that means certificates, or a court appearance!

Hi Cathy,
We were thinking the same thing for awhile. The Edward who married Dora is my grandfather and Dora is my grandmother that much we are sure about. He did serve in the South Wales Borderers and in the CAF in Canada. We have photos of him and the medals he's wearing in the photos show that. There are so many Edward Hadley's that seem to come from the place and time, could be rellies, who knows. But as soon as I can get enough money I'll get more certificates. I have Parkinson's Disease and I'm on a disable pension so it takes time to get them. I was born in London UK myself 30/08/1942. I now live in Australia, came here with my Mum and Dad in 1950. Thank you so much for helping me. your great Cathy. Cheers, Laurie.

There is an address of 68 Maida Road for both Edward and Dora (she signs as Dora Mary Barrett RUSH) on the marriage certificate http://www.rootschat.com/links/index.php where Dora gives her age as 20, daughter of Arthur RUSH, commercial traveller, deceased.  Witnesses were George and Christina WHITE who may, or may not, be connected in some way.
