lookup request on irish soldier died ww1

hi i wonder if anyone could lookup information on my great uncle john oconnor died 7th june 1917 inniskillen fusilliers regiment number 28825 i found him on cwgc .in particular how and where he died and if theres any enrollment information.any info would be greatful.

You will need the 11th Battalions RIF unit war diary for June 1917 you maybe able to get it online from Kew or apply for copies of that date it may not name him but will tell you what they were involved in....He was from St Peters Antrim and has an entry on Irelands War Dead.
Sure someone will find the war diary reference and post it on here for you. :)

The Medal Roll at Kew will also gave enlistment date he didnt go overseas until 1916 as no Star issued

thanks ady and phil that will get me back on track. my grandfather (his brother) who served in the royal irish fusilliers always claimed he was murdered.would both regiments have fought together at messines?

Ireland's Memorial Records list him as KIA with the 11th Batt the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. Born St Peter's, Antrim.

SDGW on Ancestry has him as O'Conner, enlisted Belfast. 62 from the Inniskillings listed as dead on the 7th June 1917.


11th Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers (Donegal and Fermanagh Volunteers), 109th Brigade, 36th (Ulster) Division
