Hi Lilywhites

Struggling to see a marriage for them in Scotland. If they married in Scotland before 1855 and the start of official registration, their marriage may not show.

Which census does John show as born in Knockmorden Argyll? In 1881 in London, he is down as born in Inverness-shire c. 1833 - RG11; Piece: 141; Folio: 25; Page: 43.

The only reference I can see to a Knockmorden is in Galway, Ireland at this stage  :-\

Possible entry at least for Ann McDonald in 1851:

William McDonald 52, postman b. Ireland
Ann McDonald 51 b. Arbory, Isle of Man
Sarah McDonald 19
Ann McDonald 16
Margaret McDonald 13

HO107; Piece: 2526; Folio: 134; Page: 5

This entry shows in Castleton, IOM. The three daughters all show as born there.

Found John and wife Ann now in 1871 - a bit mish-mashed on the transcription! RG10; Piece: 160; Folio: 4; Page: 2

There is one other Ann McDonald (I've been searching b. 1835 +/- 5yrs) in the 1841 census for the IOM. She shows as born in 1838 and with a Janie McDonald 7 months old, no other McDonalds on that entry. However, in 1851 living in Douglas IOM, these two girls show with a Jane Hammon, a sailor's wife, and are noted as step daughters - HO107; Piece: 2525; Folio: 354; Page: 22.

You can view the 1881 entry here www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=census/search_census.asp for John and Ann, and two children William and Ann showing as born in Marylebone - just been trying to figure out where their children are for 1871 given that both John and Ann look to be working in domestic service together in the same household, with no sign of these children. Can't easily see the children as yet for 1871 who would have been born c. 1866 and 1869.

Spot on with the later Census!
Children missing on 1871, just can't find them - this and their marriage cert is proving to be very difficult.
Again appreciate your help.

arghhh....! Frustrating search for the children, can't see them at all in 1871  :-\ A possible sighting of Ann McIntyre in 1891 in Staffordshire, lodging there showing as still married and 'living on own means'? Which of their children are you researching?

Just found out that John Mcintyre was born in 1833 in Croy, Invernesshire.  He Married Anne Macdonald from the Isle of Man and lived at a place called North End Of Inshes, Inverness. At some time he moved down to Marylebone, London. At what stage in his life he moved to London we do not know. This information for the London Residence we have got from the 1881 Census.
