they had a daughter Ann who married Thomas Bradford

If she is the Ann who married Thomas Bradford in Steyning 16th June 1787 then this looks to be the best match for parents

SMI has a James Mitchel and Ann Simonds m at Upper Beeding on 12th May 1760

Steyning was the registration district for quite a wide area.  Did they actually come from the place Steyning or another part of the registration district.
