If anyone has access to the Skipton parish registers would it please be possible to look up the marriage of Jerzy POLAK to Margery ERWIN (formerly CRABTREE) (both deceased) Q4 1944. Thank you.

Can't help much further but can confirm that Skipton was in West Yorkshire at that time. 

Regarding the marriage, the parish records that I have do not show this entry.  One snippet that may be helpful is that there were prisoners of war detained in Skipton during the second world war, but were allowed to work outside the prison camp.  the Polack name does not appear on records near that date and I wondered if he was a POW.  It may just be one of those that only a copy of the marriage certificate will solve.

I don't think he was a POW as he was a Polish RAF pilor during in WWII.
I think this one where the friends it is for will have to decide if they want to buy the cert or not.

I have a disk with skipton marriages - when i get back to my main pc i'll have a look for you.  I can't recall what years it goes up to though so I cannot promise.

Hi again

I have had a look thro the following:

Craven Indexes - Holy Trinity, Skitpon,  unfortunately the dates only go up to 1812 for marriages

I have another disk but that only goes up to 1893

I also checked Craven Indexes for Christ Church, Skipton and whilst I did accidently find some of my own there was no refernce to Polak or Erwin and that church goes to 1963 for banns at least (only 1924 for the full marriages)

I also checked the wharfedale site but there was nothing there either.

I guess they will need to buy the certificate.
