Hi foggyman-
I recognise this photo!
I was sent it by a rootschatter who has sadly since died.  i sent it on to my cousin, as one of the McBay's in it was her grandfather.
I'll need to dig out my notes, to familiarise myself with the names - not my line, but my cousin's.
Will be in touch later.

Hi, I'm interested in the photo you have just posted.  Can you name McBay's in the photo?  As mentioned before I am descended from the line of John McBay-Edith Jane Blyth.  Their sons, George and David John (my grandfather) emigrated to Australia in 16 July 1927.  George settled in Melbourne and David went on to Sydney. George died, aged 36 in 1942 with as far as I can ascertain never marrying or having children. David married Anetta Rooke and had two children, John and William.  My husband and I will be travelling to Scotland in April and will be having a look around the Johnshaven area.  Any tips of "must see" family locations I should take in?

Hi,
WENDY:
The man with the beard sitting in the middle of the photo is JOHN MEARNS MCBAY b.1828-1897.
Standing left to right: GEORGE DOUGLAS DUNCAN,(son-in-law of JMM), ISABELLA PERT 1856-1937(daughter-in law to JMM and sister to his second wife Elizabeth Pert), ANN MCBAY 1860 1900 (daughter of JMM and ANN DAVIDSON first wife), the man standing with dog is believed to be JMM's son JAMES MCBAY 1854-1936.
Sitting left to right: JEANIE BELL MCBAY  1863-1953 (daughter of JMM,husband George standing behind her), JMM (Himself), Elizabeth Pert 1850-1931 ( JMM's second wife), this was information given to me by Mcbay family living in Scotland.
I have not been to Johnshaven so I cannot advise on what to see, the only thing I can say is if you go to where the village of Miltonhaven was (now a caravan site) in ST.CYRUS,Kincs., that is where the MCBAYS line started back in the mid 1700s.

Hi, thehammies13,
I am interested in all MCBAY/BEY lines and would like to hear from your cousin regarding their line of the Mcbays.

Thank you for that foggyman.  I love the old photos, I have some from my mothers side in Australia, but not many from the McBay side. Do you think the photo was taken in Johnshaven? I'm counting down the weeks now until we leave Aus, I'm really looking forward to just being on the coast and in the towns where they all came from.
