Hi - Have just read your query about your Johnshaven McBey/McBay ancestors.  I live in Johnshaven and am also descended from the McBays and have done almost all the descendant family trees back to the original two brothers who came down from Banff/Rathven in the mid 1700s.  Your grandfather Edward McBey was a great character.  Known as "Lang Ned" he was the first Cox of the Johnshaven lifeboat and a very brave man.  If you need any more information I'll be glad to supply it.  Kind regards, Eileen.

Hello EileenA,
I am looking for the McBay's of Johnshaven.  My GF (John David McBay) came to Australia in 1927 from Great Yarmouth in England.  His Mother and Father (John McBay and Edith Jane Blyth) were both from Johnshaven. John's parents are David McBay and Ann Douglas and Edith's are Walter Blyth and Helen Salmon. I'm just in the process of confirming all the details before I cement them into my tree.  Nice to talk to another McBay.

Hi,
John McBay b.1880,Johnshaven is my 3c2r, marr. Edith Blyth 4 Feb 1907 Great Yarmouth. They had a least 5 children, George,John David,Ann, Henry and Walter. Reading all the answers to this post it looks as if our common ancestors were my 4x Grt.Grandparents Alexander McBay/Bey b.1769 Miltonhaven,St.Cyrus,Kincs. and Christian Ritchie b.1783 of  Johnshaven, Kincs. My line is from their son Thomas b.1811,Miltonhaven,St.Cyrus who is Edward's brother.
I live near Heathrow Airport,London,UK and have a lot of data on the MCBAY/BEY line.
I look forward to hearing from all who are interested.
I have attached a copy of John Mearns McBay and family in Johnshaven c1880 which was sent to me by a family member who lives in Scotland, the man standing on the left is the spitting image of my youngest brother Dennis.
