Hi and welcome to Rootschat

The 1901 is the last searchable online census for Scotland so we need enough info to search that census and earlier ones for your ancestors

Your fathers birth cert will give his parents names and mothers maiden name - we need that info

If you have a copy of your grandparents marriage cert - please tell us all the info on it - especially their ages and their parents names
Census Information is Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk
Carlin (Ireland & Liverpool) Doughty & Wright (Liverpool) Dick & Park (Scotland & Liverpool)

Welcome to rootschat! I had a quick search for any male McBays who might fit the bill. I only found 2 in the 1901 census.
George D.McBey,born circa 1880, in Johnshaven, was a tailor & was a boarder in Govan, - (24 Batson Street.)
John McBay was born in Kincardineshire circa 1884, an apprentice tailor, & living with a large McBay family in Mid Street, Benholm. His parents were Edward & Georgina McBay.
Hope this information will help!
Regards,

Scotlandspeople is the best place to obtain copies of certificates. You can view the info on the web rather than purchase a paper one at greater expense. If you get your grandparent's marriage certificate you'll get more information for your money than just ordering your grandfather's death certificate. Obviously you'll need to see your father's birth certificate first to confirm his parents names! There's loads of folk on this site more than willing to assist you with your research.
