Glasgow Hospital Records Access Query
« on: Thursday 25 November 10 13:28 GMT (UK) »
Hi, it isn't really a question of genealogy, but I'm trying to help an elderly neighbour - he is puzzled by very hazy memories of quite extensive medical treatment that he had when he was very young, and would like to know what was wrong with him, if that makes sense.

He's tried to access his own medical records and his school records for clues, but as he, his parents and siblings left the country for several years, these early records seem to have been destroyed.  Unfortunately he was so young that he can't really remember what forms the treatment he had took, so we can't deduce anything from that, and he has no living relatives still around from those days that he could ask.

The only thing he is positive about is that he was hospitalised in Glasgow, he thinks probably GRI, and he puts the date of hospitalisation at around the late 20s/very early 30s.  Does anyone know if patient admissions or other details from this era are available, and if so, can they be accessed by post or consulted in person?  Many thanks for reading this, and for any suggestions or confirmation that the records have perished.

Thank you so much!  I'll call round to see my neighbour tonight to get the ball rolling, and hopefully this will mean he'll eventually be able to get some closure on this issue.  Really grateful for your help, I know he'll be so pleased that another option has opened up that he can pursue.  Many, many thanks.

You are very welcome,
if the records are there he will get them, so far I have sent for 3 my own,Both  my maternal Great Grandfathers, and managed to get all three,

I hope he manages to get his records, I know what he means as I was in hospital from 3 weekd old until i was 6 weeks old but never thought of asking my mother the details while she was alive,

all the best with this
