Hi David
The Army Catering Corps was formed in 1941, prior to that each Regiment made its own arrangement.
Although the ACC has its own cap badge, at its formation it fell under the overall organisation of the Royal Army Service Corps, in the early days RASC badges etc were common.
It wouldnt surprise me to see on his service history that he was transferred to the RASC after completing his basic training and then further transferred to the ACC, even though he joined after the formation of the ACC.
Dont worry too much about things like supply of badges etc - in one Battalion of my Grandfathers Regt officers did not receive sidearms until late 1941, such was the shortage of equipment!
I'm guessing no-one else has his medals.....take that as encouragement that you have them somewhere!
Cheers
Pete
