Ive got Joseph Henry Howard Scott as being born in 1874..  ?   Do you think that the census with Thomas as head of family aged 68 and Joseph aged 25 is relevant to me, as the age of Joseph on your reply above doesnt tie in.... wonder if we have the wrong family, but him being a student of theology ties in doesnt it?...

ages on census returns etc are not always accurate, so I'd allow a few years either way just in case.

The age for Joseph is quite consistent on the 1901 and 1911 return at 25 and 36, the 1901 occupation fits, and I think the full name match on the birth index record makes it a good possibility.

Do you have a marriage cert for Joseph ?
That would show father's name & occupation and could help prove the 1901 census connection (may also include a family member as a witness).

p.s. did you see the second 1871 Joseph birth I added details on above ?

I dont have any official info at all re the family, what I have got from the village website is a guy put me onto a book published about the Church history with quite a lot of information re JHH Scott... he kindly sent me the book last week in return for a donation to the village community association, which I was very happy to do..the info I sent you via pm was sent to me from someone in the village church comminity where AW Scott  (Joseph's eldest son) was Rector.. so regarding the Joseph Scott in 1871.. I doubt that is our relative, as JHH Scott was born 1874?.....

I thought he married in 1911, so just after the other census detail we mentioned ?

Ballyclare is right beside Ballynure & Ballyeaston - so would fit with the clues you have...

Yes, thats correct, in the census with his parents, his age is stated as 25... he married ten years later ... late 1911, after he is stated in the 1911 census as living alone as Head of House, possibly in a room/house alone at Main St  number 12-2  I printed that census off and noted that number 12 Main St had various occupants  12-1  etc, etc
