Hello Mike and all in Leicester,

I am Brian, in the states and I am researching my family roots in England.  I have Richard Parker m. Elizabeth Kirk on or about  June 6 or Jun 8, 1814 at St Margarets in Leicestershire.  I would love to know how would I go about seeing this record or getting a copy of the Marriage record if possible.

Also, they had at least 3 children before ariving in America, I have them listed as Eliza or Elizabeth born abt 1814/1815, Ann K Parker, born about 1816 and son William Parker b. about 1819, I would assume they were all born in Leicester as this seemed to have been where a few later records was given as place of birth.  However, their father Richard Parker on his Immigration record to the US gives his place of birth as Skillington, Lincs. about 1782.

I don't know much more about Richard's wife Elizabeth (or Eliza) Kirk except that she was born about 1788 and probably or possibly in Leicester.

I appreciate all your kindness and ANY HELP locating records from family and friends in England.

Cheers,
Brian W

Mike,

I tried to send you a Private message. I didn't realize that I was not allowed to give out my email address on here.  Oopz.

I was wondering you mentioned Elizabeth Kirk's parents was that from the marriage recored or from her birth/baptism?

I take it you didn't see Richard Parker born in Leicester at that time, which may make Skillington or Lincolnshire area more likely?

Cheers and peace,
Brian W

PS. Whom would I need to contact if I have inquiry for Birth record in Yorkshire?
