Hi Mike

Thank you. This should help to fill in some gaps and sort out some confusion, although my William Watchorn born 1797 still escapes me. Very frustrating.

Thank you for the additional info.

Greeting’s ….A member of the Henwood Family
& welcome to the Leicestershire Boards. ……

For the moment I can confirm all your details as :~

St: Margaret’s Parish Church. Leicester.

MARRIAGE :~

1809. 10th April.
Thomas JENNINGS. ~ Ann WHITE.

By Banns.

(From St: Margaret’s Baptisms 1615. ~1921.)

 BAPTISMS :~ 1816.

Baptism Register Entry No’. 1486.
31st. May.
Sarah. Daughter of Thomas & Ann Jennings.

Entry No’. 1487.
Ann. Daughter of Thomas & Ann Jennings.

Entry No’. 1488.
Eliza. Daughter of Thomas & Ann Jennings.

NO other Baptisms for Thomas & Ann found…….

Now I would not get too excited at the thought of Triplets !!! .... ::)

Seeing that 8 years had pasted since the marriage in 1809.
It’s more likely that Baptisms could not have been affordable till then.

Or Thomas & Ann had moved back in to the Parish and the Minister had been on a recruitment dive to increase his flock. …….

Sorry NO times would appear on Baptism records you are confusing that practise
With BIRTH certificates and as it’s 1816
. and Birth Registration was not law then  times will not appear on the entries …….

I can have a look at the original registers on your behalf the next time I’m at the records Office and report my findings back on this thread . …..

Hi

I was wondering if anyone can help me with a look up for St Margaret's in Leicester.

Name George Ripton  born c1820-1827

I visited Leicester records office a while ago and checked all the Leicester parish records from 1827-1832 - based on the age given in various census documents. I have now found his military record and he gives his place of birth as St Margaret's and his age in 1842 was 18 years old. So I need to focus my research in that area, but unfortunatly I won't be able to get to Leicester again for quite some time. So I was wondering if there was anyone on here who would be kind enough to help.

Many thanks

Hi Mike from Leicester (or anyone else that can help).

Reference St. Margaret's records.

I am related to a Benjamin Roberts b. 1792 (Boatbuilder/Boatwright)
possibly Birmingham, who married Ann(e) somebody about 1812, possibly
in Leicester as they subsequently lived in Belgrave Gate, Leicester and later
in the parish of Great Bowden (1820ish until 1830s).

American researchers have stated three items in St Margaret's parish registers
viz - Maria, daughter of Benjamin and Ann buried March 12th 1815, age "unreadable"
Oliver, son baptised 24th Sept 1819, living "Banbury Road?"
Lewis, son baptised 26th Dec 1815, living Belgrave Gate.

My queries on these entries are as follows -

Any baptism for Maria, how old when she died ?
Any death for Oliver after 1819 up to 1841 as I can't trace any census entries for him.
Any death for Lewis after 1815 but before 1821 as I have picked up Lewis in 1841
and 1851 aged 20 and 30, suggesting the first one died and a subsequent one was
baptised (circa 1821?).

Any sign of a wedding entry for Benjamin and an Ann(e) and, any baptisms for any
other children up to 1821 ?

Thanks in anticipation when you've got a minute.

Dave.
