Thank you for all the additional info. Though now I have a new conundrum regarding Thomas and Frances whom the other source thought was Frances Coles. Perhaps Thomas married Frances Jackson nee Coles. Thomas was born in Dublin so Fray might be an interpretation of his accent. I need to track the gun-smithing angle to get futher back I think. Thank you so much

Thanks Mike,
It looks like a shotgun wedding on 1st with John baptised on the 6th. I wonder if he was born before the marriage or they married as a result of his birth. They had 10 more children that I know. I guess a Gun-smith has to have an apprenticeship first. I have no evidence of Thomas's parents having come to England and I see there are no family names at the marriage so was he sent to England or did he leave Ireland as soon as he had finished his apprenticeship. If the latter then he must have met Frances fairly soon after arriving in Leicester.
Do you have access to the baptism registers for 1858+? If so were any of these children baptised there, most of them died in infancy and I'm having dificulty confirming their parents though some look obvious...Rosetta must surely be the daughter of William & Rosetta? I don't want to impinge on your time so please don't put yourself out. I should try to get a visit to the Leicester records office  really.
Thank you for all your effort it is greatly appreciated.   Grace.

Hello!

My name is Debora Fray Farber.  My grandfather was Ezra Jack Fray, son of Thomas Fray and Emma Wood.
Ezra Jack was one of 13 children.  I had only met one of his siblings when I was a child.  Her name was Florence "Flo" Fray Stewart.  Ezra Jack died in 1967 I think and Aunt Flo dies in 1978.  They was a trucking company in Leicestershire called Fray Brothers Trucking.  Visit my Ancestry tree on Ancestry.com

Regards,
Debbie Fray Farber

Hello,
This is my first time ever posting on a chat site so please bear with me.  How do I connect with a specific person?  I would like to somehow send a message to Mike of Leicester.

My request is for assistance in getting parish records for St. Margaret's.  A friend of mine Albert Snow is trying to trace his father's family.  His father Walter William Snow C1903-1971 left the marriage (22 Mar 1943 in Hamilton, ON, Canada) when Albert was very young.  He has no recollection.  From the 1911 Census of Canada we see a family with a son Walter born in England.  The father's name was also Walter and whose enlistment paper for WWI shows his birth place as St. Margaret's in Leicester.

I would be grateful of any help.
Thank you.
Al

Hello Mike of Leicester

Just wondering if you have any WATCHORN records for St Margarets.

I want to find the birth of a William Watchorn about 1797.

On IGI I have found a Martha born 25 March 1793, bap 31 March 1793, daughter of Thomas Watchorn and Martha Dalby. I wonder if there are any other Watchorn records about the same time.

Regards Perks1
