Thank you for your time and effort - that would seem to rule out Shepshed/Loughborough.

I suppose he could have died elsewhere in Leicester - especially considering that he appears to have been buried at Welford Road.

Any accident / suicide? victim would have been taken to the Leicester infirmary nr welford road so that bit makes sense.

you could send for the death cert details as given post 2. this might give the actual place or detail of inquest?

Hi Andy,

I have a distant relative called William Henry Wilcox.  He was born in Orton on the Hill, Leicestershire in Q2 1885.  He is on the 1891 census living with his grandmother, Eliza, in Orton and is also on the 1901 census living with his parents and sisters in Outwood, near Wakefield.  I cannot find him on the 1911 census, although I don't have full access.  A couple of the Wilcox men from Orton had moved to the Coalville/Whitwick area in the 1880s so if he came back to Leicestershire he may have gone there.  At the time of your ancestor's burial, my William would have been 28.  Do you think they are the same person?

Hi Ken,

Nice to hear from you, although the dates and some locations seem to fit quite nicely - without knowing whom William's Grandmother was, it's difficult to fit your information in with my wife's family tree.  We have William's parents as John Willcox from Lincolnshire and Lucy Toon from Birstall, Leicestershire.  I shall have to do a little more digging to see if there is a link!

My long shot has not paid off!  My William's parents were Samuel Wilcox and Hannah Wilson, both born in Orton.  Thanks anyway.
