Hi Jessie,

It was the Census that gave me the childrens names, I did'nt see any individual birth records. You could visit the Family History Centre in Aberdeen - the address is North Anderson Drive Aberdeen, Grampian, Scotland. The opening hours are Wed, Fri and Sat 10:30-3:30; Tues, Thurs 6:30-8:30.  I have a friend in Scotland that uses one of these centres and can put you in touch with her if you wish.  With her experiences she would be able to guide you on that.

It is difficult to say for that time period what information the birth certificates would give you

Perhaps this link would help

http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library/fhc/frameset_fhc.asp

This is another Massachusetts BMD site that is sometimes useful but there were only 2 McCrindle births listed - of course there could be others under a slightly different spelling.

Hi Jessie,
I hope you don't mind me coming in on your thread but I have been to one of the centres a good few times. The staff are very helpful  but I suggest you phone up before you go first of all to check the opening times and secondly to find if they have the file you would like to access . Before you phone write down all the information you can get file number everything it will make it much easier for you on your visit if you have all this with you .

Hope you enjoy your visit . Please just ask if I can help in other way.

Regards,

Suzilad

Hi Sandra and Suzilad
First of all thank you both for all your advice. A friend found someone researching Andrew on Ancestry and I emailed the person I have had a lovely email back and I was wondering if I could send it to you both and maybe it would help me get a bit nearer to finding out more about Rebecca b 1870.

Thank you
Jessie

Hello Jessie,

Thats fine Jessie, I will send you my personal e-mail address by personal message.
I saw some pieces written about McCrindle in Ayrshire and had a feeling yours might slot into it.

Regards
Sandra

Hello,

came across this a couple of months ago in a thrift store. Is this what/who you were looking for?
It seems to be a baptismal cup for an George Shaw Mc Crindle. The hallmarks are unusual/unique.
Since, I am new here, cannot use the private messaging until I submit three posts. Can send you photos.

Stan
