Hi all
Hope you can help me out im having trouble finding a place in wales called cwmme ucha which i know was around in the 1700s but can't find on any old maps my ancestors owned a 130 acre farm there any help would be great thanks

Hi gwynt and yes i found my family don't need any info on the rowe's just the place name cwmme ucha it says this on the 1841 census but no where on a map hope you can help

I reckon Cwmme Ucha might be the name of the farm rather than a placename. Cwmme looks like an old or maybe anglicised spelling of cwm which is a Welsh word for valley. Ucha means upper or higher.

You can see St Peters, Carmarthen on google maps which should give a rough idea where it is/was.

Spelt differanly but in right area,Cymau Uchaf.
