Ancestry Shoebox
« on: Thursday 18 November 10 08:01 GMT (UK) »
Has anyone else lost some or all of their "Shoebox" items on Ancestry?  I only have limited access to some of my records. It shows the total number of records but I can't access them. Ancestry say it's an ongoing problem which they don't know if or when they'll fix it - they won't even say if it's my account or more general. "Helpful" as usual.

Thanks

Hi Sitrucat,

I have the same problem, though I'm not sure whether it's A******y or my PC... I can only access the first page of my shoebox items... when I try to access others it says 'error on page'... I deleted 3 from the front page, that I no longer need, and 3 from the 'next page appeared'...so they're still there, just no accessible... :-\

Slightly different scenario, but, I also lost a load of 'hints' I had put into 'ignored hints' for later review...

I haven't reported it, maybe I should and see what response I get... ::)

Perhaps worth reporting as it might get them to do something about it. I asked for reduction in membership until they fixed it as they weren't offering the service I pay for, but they weren't interested - which is par for the course for them in my experience.

I have spoken to the Ancestry Tech folk and they told me the problem is related to Internet Explorer and will eventually be fixed. The suggestion was to use Firefox in the meantime since there doesn't seem to be a problem with it. I haven't tried it yet myself, though.

Have just gone into my shoebox on ancestry using Chrome with no problem, can access all 188 items!
Tried on Internet Explorer and only brings first page up....just says error on page for rest.

Mine didn't work on Firefox or Safari (both on a MAC) but it seems to have been fixed (for now) as I can see all items again.

I am still having 'error' problems with Internet Explorer but have now had time to try using Firefox and can see all my pages with it.
